The Scott Air Force Ball Committee will sponsor an Anniversary Celebration 5K Fun Run Aug. 11, at 7:30 a.m., at Scott Air Force Base.

The funds raised will go towards decreasing the cost of tickets for junior enlisted to attend the 2012 Air Force Ball to be held Sept. 8 at the Scott Club.

According to Capt. Amanda Ferguson, Fundraiser Project Officer, "The run is important because the purpose of this event is three-fold: Through this event we intend to celebrate 95 years of service and excellence of Scott, the Air Force's 65-year anniversary and promote a fit and ready Air Force."

The activity is open to all participants of the community that may find a sponsor onto base as well the rest of Team Scott. The run will start on Heritage Drive, across from the Parade Field, where participants will turn left on Hanger Road and continue along Golf Course Road.

"I hope those service members participating will get sense of appreciation for the service they provide to our country," said Ferguson. "Sixty-five years provides a long lineage of excellence to follow and emulate for our future Airmen."
