St. Louis Rams show appreciation to Team Scott Published Aug. 31, 2012 By Staff Sgt. Brian J. Valencia 375th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Team Scott Airmen received a rare opportunity to run plays during a walk-through practice against the St. Louis Rams Aug. 29, 2012. The practice was aimed to help the Rams mentally prepare for their opponent on their next game the following day. Twenty-two volunteers were picked to run offense, defense and special teams' plays against the entire Rams' roster. "It was a good time; they are all great guys," said Senior Airman Kenyan Hudson, 375th Comptroller Squadron financial customer service. "It was a childhood dream to be able to play NFL football." Team Scott and their families came out and watched the practice and were able to get autographs afterwards. For the Rams it was an opportunity to give back to a large part of the local community and show respect for what service members do on a daily basis. Rams running back, Steven Jackson, said his appreciation stems from his father who served in the Marines. "I'm very appreciative of the service and sacrifice of the military so we can live a life of freedom, it's something I don't take for granted," said Jackson. "I always look to show my respect and tell them, 'Thank you.'" To further show their appreciation, the Rams took their practice jerseys off, autographed them and handed them to a service member. In all, 75 Airmen received jerseys from the team. "We appreciate all your service and hard work for this country," said Craig Dahl, Rams strong safety. Dahl said he also wished a safe return home for military members serving overseas. As the players boarded the bus to go back and get ready for their preseason finale against the Baltimore Ravens, Scott team members and their families clapped and cheered for the Rams to thank them for giving back. As the sunlight faded away, people returned to their cars with smiles on their faces and children grinning from ear to ear. "I feel blessed and honored and want to thank the organizers for giving me the opportunity to experience something I wanted to do my whole life," said Hudson. "Thank you,' to the Air force for allowing me to take advantage of this opportunity."
