The Scott Family Advocacy team hosted a women's empowerment discussion panel called, "Me, Myself and I: Not Your Everyday Woman," at the Medical Clinic Monday.

"The purpose of the conference was to collaborate with others and talk about issues and problem solving," said Amanda Pinkham, Family Advocacy outreach manager. "It's about coming up with ways to empower women."

Topics included women's health, family advocacy intervention, health education, child and youth services, ADAPT and family readiness.

"Women's role in society has changed," said Pinkham. "Women have more social power, but there is still conflict on how to manage their families, career and take care of themselves."

There were a variety of speakers to include the base Sexual Assault Response Coordinator and chaplain. These speakers talked about social, professional, personal and health issues that women deal with.

Alfe Tucker, Family Advocacy domestic abuse victim advocate, said, "The conference provided faces, showing who women can talk to about their issues and where to go for information. The conference provided insight to the programs available to help women in their lives, and where to access them."

Senior Airman Sarai Crosby, 375th Medical Support Squadron, attended the conference and said, "I gained knowledge about various organizations on base. I learned that I can be a woman and be successful in today's military."

Tucker said, "I hope people left with knowledge of knowing what they can use or where they can go to be a better Airman and Wingman."
