He conducted demonstrations about youth anti-bullying and women's self defense that covered bully awareness, abduction resistance, boxing, kick boxing, grappling and street defense. The demonstrations were led by Andre and his team of trained and certified instructors, who train in St. Louis and St. Peters, Mo. "The demos for women and kids are the exact same thing I teach to the men, military and police officers," said Andre. "We're not teaching to hurt people but instead use it as self defense." According to Team Andre's website, their goal is, "to enlighten others with the knowledge to better themselves by guiding them to recognize and achieve their physical and mental capabilities." They also work "to educate others in health, physical fitness, self confidence, courage and personal protection, while providing the necessary staff, equipment and environment for its members to achieve this goal." Andre said, "With the classes we teach you how to get in shape rather than fight and include a diet plan with it." James Sports Center will also be hosting classes by Team Andre called Fitness MMA Boot Camp that start in November. The classes are available to Active Duty, Guard, Reserve, retired, CAC/ID card holders, DOD civilians and depends of active duty members 16 years of age or older. Edward Norvell, 375th Force Support Squadron sports director, said, "We offer these demos to see what the classes have to offer at the James Sport Center and let them meet the instructors. They help maintain a high level of fitness and self defense."
