Filled with humorous life stories and a jolly demeanor, former Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force Robert D. Gaylor briefed his "12 powerful F- word philosophy" to 40 members of Team Scott who were attending a one day resilience class Jan. 17, 2013.

Gaylor's "12 powerful F- words" are: focus, family, faith, friends, finances, falter, fail, fun, foolishness, fault, fervent, and forgive. For each word he had a definition and personal example to help Air Force members remember to be resilient when encountering hardships in life.

"This class brings life issues to reality," said Staff Sgt. Tamandra Travillion, 375th Aerospace Medical Squadron. "The F-words make it easy to take the class lessons and share them with other Air Force members."

The goal of the briefing was to get people to look at areas where they can help develop a stronger resilience.

"Many of these F-words I will try to incorporate into my own life," said Capt. Amanda Ferguson, 375th Medical Support Squadron. "This class helps me to use resiliency to deal with life issues. My outlook has changed completely; now, I look forward to sharing this information with my Airmen."

Gaylor ended his briefing on a positive note. In the future he hopes to brief his philosophy to other bases he tours.

"Life ... it's so precious, and it's not worth wasting," said Gaylor. "You've got to take advantage of every day and strengthen your resiliency."

Gaylor was the fifth CMSAF and was enlisted from September 1948 to August 1979.

The next Resiliency class will be held Jan. 29. For more information call 256-3253.
