MilPDS to reopen at Scott Published April 1, 2013 By Staff Sgt. Maria Bowman 375th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Scott's Military Personnel Section is closed this week as members of the 375th Force Support Squadron process and update Military Personnel Data System transactions and restore data integrity. The Air Force successfully upgraded and transferred MilPDS to the Defense Information Systems Agency Defense Enterprise Computing Center, Air Force Personnel Center officials said March 23, 2013. This upgrade took 17 days from when the shut-down began March 4. "While MilPDS was off-line, each transaction that would normally have been updated, was instead added to the tracking system for update upon the system going live again," said Master Sgt. Kimberly Radice, 375th FSS Force Management section chief. "The Military Personnel Section at Scott has been working diligently, since MilPDS was brought back on line, to make updates on all data that was held when the system went off-line." Radice said updates held due to the MilPDS upgrade, included assignment availability codes and limitations, promotions, decorations, and enlisted and officer performance reports. "The Scott MPS held and tracked a total of 496 transactions during the shutdown," Radice said. "Every transaction made in MilPDS is tied to a member's career, pay, or both. Our team takes great pride in data integrity and strive for 100 percent correct records." MilPDS is the primary records database for personnel data and actions that occur throughout every Airman's career. MilPDS is also used to initiate pay actions, maintain Air Force accountability and strength data and support a host of interactions with other Air Force and Department of Defense processes and systems that rely on personnel data. March 4, AFPC Commander Maj. Gen. A.J. Stewart hit the button to shut down MilPDS for what was expected to be 23 days. However, the upgrade was accomplished in 17 days. "We're pleased that the MilPDS upgrade took less time than anticipated, and we are well on our way to getting information updated in the system," said Joe Thele, Air Force Personnel Operations Agency director.
