Nineteen units across Scott competed May 18 for the title of Unit Fitness Challenge champions on the Airman Leadership School field.

The challenge had five events: the 5K, 10K, Humvee push, tire flip and frozen push-up.

"This year we wanted to make it more fun," said Glendora Brock, Health and Wellness Center program director. "We wanted to get away from the PT feel. You're still using the same muscle groups, but mentally you don't see it like that."

Points were awarded for how fast they could complete the first four events, but to maximize the amount of points they received during the frozen push-up, participants had to hold their position for as long as possible.

In between each event, numbers were drawn by random for raffle prizes. The raffle was open to spectators of the event as well as participants. Items such as gift cards and iPods were given away.

The 375th Civil Engineer Squadron placed first earning their squadron $1,000, while the 15th Operational Weather Squadron earned second and $750, the 635th Supply Chain Operations Group earned third and $550, the 375th Security Forces Squadron earned fourth and $350, and 375th Logistics Readiness Squadron earned fifth and $250.

Col. Pete Giusti, 375th Operations Group commander, said, "These events are incredibly important because they bring us all together as a military family. It's team building, it's camaraderie, it's resilience, and it's everyone having a good time."
