As the best major Defense Switched Network hub for 2012, the Scott central office maintained nearly 100 percent successful call completion rates while processing more than 40 million telephone calls throughout the calendar year for more than 100 Defense Department and federal sites with zero major network outages. "It's always an honor to represent your unit, but truly it's business as usual with this team," said Steven Bommarito, 375th CS central office exchange manager. "I believe the No. 1 reason we won this award is due to the high character of the people who operate and maintain this service plant." The 375th CS was recognized during its Defense Information System Agency Performance Evaluation in December. Capt. Andrew Mackenzie, 375th CS flight commander, said, "We are continuing to move forward with adopting new technologies such as our base-wide Voice Over Internet Protocol Phone upgrade while we continue to support the legacy systems that the Air Force relies on." At the base level, 375th CS got all of Scott on the VOIP network to include more than 9,000 VOIP telephone sets and completed over 2,285 telecommunication service orders and project actions for simple line change transitions. Bommarito said, "We continue working within new and advanced technologies that better sustain our information systems and military mission with the mindset that it's our base and command mission customers who are our top priority."
