The 375th Force Support Squadron and Scott Library began their Summer Reading Program June 10 at Scott.

The program looks to encourage members of Scott to read more over the summer by putting on events and awarding prizes to participants. This year's theme is "Have book, will travel."

"All ages are invited to participate in reinforcing their need to continue growing in reading and pave the way for a more literate future," said Dolores Bayley, 375th FSS lead library technician.

Readers are split into three categories: children up to 12 years old, young adults from 13 to 18 years old and adults ages 19 and up.

Anna Driggers, 375th FSS library technician, said, "We hope this program will teach kids and adults the importance of progressing their education through literature."

The program incorporates reading sessions at the library with events by local performers that tie in the theme.

Events include:

· Magic Show at the Library Auditorium, June 11, at 10:30 a.m.

· Book and Bowl at the Stars and Strikes Bowling Center, June 14, 5-6:30 p.m.

· American Eagle Show at the Library Auditorium, June 17, at 10:30 a.m.

· Dance Night at the Library Auditorium, July 8, at 6:30 p.m.

· U.S. Air Force Band of Mid-America at Library Auditorium, July 10, at 2 p.m.

Bayley said, "Last year more than 700 children signed up and this year we hope we exceed that."
