The Document Automation and Production Services, or DAPS, began as a part of the Department of Defense in 1949, proudly serving Soldiers, Airmen, Marines and Sailors as well as the President of the United States, the Joint Chiefs and DoD civilians.

Three years ago, DAPS changed its name to Defense Logistics Agency Document Services. More recently, the organization went through a facility change--causing some confusion as to whether or not it had closed.

Kay Campbell, DLA Document Services electronic duplication technician, said, "We have downsized and condensed our space, which caused some confusion, but we are still as open to Scott, and we are just as efficient as before."

Document Service's mission is to serve as the DoD's single manager for printing and high- speed, high-volume duplicating, including both the operation of DoD in-house facilities and the procurement of these services from outside, and as the preferred provider of document conversation and automation services.

"We are the only print shop in full support of Scott Air Force Base," she said. "Whatever department needs printing, electronics or graphics done, we are here for them."

The two-person shop is used for producing many things such as banners, posters, invitations, nameplates, plaques, decals, letterhead and envelopes, custom tabs, manuals, and full-color brochures. They also offer desktop publishing, CD and DVD duplication, EBook conversion, machine folding, laminating, shrink-wrapping, copier leasing and a variety of document binding. They offer discounted pricing on recycled copier paper and can order and ship to your location.

Cynthia Bell, DLA Document Services electronic duplication technician, said, "By going through the changes, I think our customers had assumed that we had left the base, but we are better than ever."

Document Services is located at 901 South Drive, Bldg. 700 east, near the "lemon lot." Their business hours are Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. To get a quote on their services, call 256-4686.
