Brad Thompson, former Major League Baseball St. Louis Cardinals pitcher, is scheduled to fly in an F-16 Fighting Falcon with the U.S. Air Force’s Thunderbirds aerial demonstration team, as part of the upcoming airshow and open house June 10 and 11.

Thompson, has been selected as the USAF Thunderbirds’ “Hometown Hero” representative for his longtime dedication to the St. Louis area. On the morning June 9, Thompson will be strapped into the rear seat of a Thunderbird, flown over 600 mph, and barrel-rolled across the St. Louis region, all while having a GoPro camera positioned 12 inches from his face.

Thompson’s “Hometown Hero” flight is just the beginning of an exciting, fun-filled airshow weekend at Scott AFB that will feature 14 daily aerial demonstrations and allow visitors to get up-close-and-personal to over 50 U.S. military aircraft.
