Scott hosts inaugural Aeromedical Evacuation Weapons System Council

SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. --  

SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, ILL. – Scott Air Force Base hosted its inaugural Aeromedical Evacuation Weapons System Council here April 9-10 with more than 150 Airmen who represented 32 wings from across the Air Force. 

Attendees discussed mission critical AE advancements needed throughout Air Mobility Command, 18th Air Force and USAF Expeditionary Centers to advance warfighting capabilities and inform initiatives.

Col. John Poole, 375th Air Mobility Wing commander, said it was an opportunity to have voices heard and to address some hard-hitting questions while building a closer bond across the AE teams.  

The key talking points of this event included deployment restructuring and training advancements and capabilities. The deliberate engagement of these topics was also a result of higher headquarters focus areas about developing relevant guidance and allocating resources across the various wings.  

These discussions were briefed throughout the two-day event by respective subject matter experts and followed by an open Q&A. By having this face-to-face discussion forum, the WSC fostered two-way communication between the AMC staff and the WSC itself. 

Scott AFB was selected as the host for the first WSC meeting because the base works as a hub for many major commands and oversees the training school for AE.  The WSC plans to reconvene in October to follow-up on changes that have been implemented and discuss further areas of improvement.
