Railroad construction to close roads, gates on base

Norfolk Southern Railway provided an update to the railroad crossing repair schedule which drives an adjustment to Scott’s gate and road closure plan this month. Of note, Belleville Gate will be closed from Aug. 15-17 (vs. Aug. 8-10 as previously advertised). Norfolk Southern Railway will be making essential repairs to the railroad crossings on or near Scott Air Force Base this month. A summary of the impacts is noted in the maps below. Phase 1 started Aug. 8 and will conclude Aug. 12 with Ward Drive being closed. Patriots Landing Gate will be open for inbound and outbound traffic (24 hours) and Old Mascoutah Gate will be open for inbound traffic (6-8 a.m.) to accommodate road closures. For Phase 2, from Aug. 15-17, the Belleville Gate will be closed and Patriots Landing Gate will be open for inbound and outbound traffic (5:30 a.m.-10 p.m.) and Old Mascoutah Gate will be open for inbound traffic (6-8 a.m.) and outbound traffic (3:30-5:30 p.m.). During this time, motorists are encouraged to consider using the Shiloh Gate for faster on and off-base travel. The 375th Air Mobility Wing appreciates your patience as Norfolk Southern Railway makes essential repairs on the railroad crossings.
