Fallen Airman honored

O'Fallon community members gathered Sept. 6 to honor the service of Air Force Capt. Karl Youngblood who died with 11 other Airmen during a HH-60G Pave Hawk training rescue mission Sept. 3, 1998. About 75 people gathered with Captain Youngblood's widow, Lee Anne, to commemorate Captain Youngblood's service with the ceremonial raising of the U.S. flag by O'Fallon's Boy Scout Troop 46. Members of the city's high school chamber choir also performed. O'Fallon commemorates the life of a servicemember with a similar ceremony each month. (U.S. Air Force photo/ Lt. Col. Lindsey Borg)
