Wildlife biologist works to prevent bird strikes on the flightline
Erica McDonald, United States Department of Agriculture wildlife biologist, sets up a trap to catch red-tail hawks on the runway June May 30 at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. The traps, which cause no harm to both the hawks and pigeons, are designed to catch the birds to be release back into a safe habitat. McDonald is part of the Scott AFB Bird/Wildlife Aircraft Strike Hazard Program, which aims to reduce the number of aircraft strike incidents while also preserving wildlife.
