Straight Talk Line

The Straight Talk Line is a number set up by the installation commander that facilitates communication during times of crisis response, during situations that warrant rumor control messaging, and during seasons of inclement weather where reporting procedures for base personnel are affected.

The 375th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs Office is the manager for the Straight Talk Line and any questions may be addressed to 375aw.pa@scott.af.mil.

FOR INCLEMENT WEATHER DURING THE WINTER SEASON
(NOV to MAR 1):

The installation commander is the approval authority for base operating procedures in the event of inclement weather.

Depending on the circumstances of the winter weather activity, the installation commander may authorize the following: early release, delayed reporting or mission-essential reporting only.

EARLY RELEASE: Unit commanders and supervisors will release personnel who are non-mission essential personnel according to the guidelines of the early release notification. All non-mission essential personnel will need to pick up their children from the Child Development Centers and Youth Center.

DELAYED REPORTING UP TO 2 HOURS : In accordance with Scott Air Force Base Instruction 90-101, Severe Weather Operations, "The purpose for delayed reporting during hazardous weather conditions is to allow base personnel additional time for safe travel to the base. It is not an automatic authorization to report two hours late for duty. Delayed reporting applies to military and civilian personnel; leave will not be charged."

MISSION-ESSENTIAL REPORTING: Personnel identified by their commanders as mission essential are to report for duty. Servicemembers not required to report will be placed on telephone standby until further notice. Civilian personnel not required to report will be placed on administrative leave as granted by the installation commander. Only those children of designated mission essential personnel are allowed to be dropped off at the CDCs and Youth Center.

Information about base operating procedures in the event of inclement weather will be released through the Straight Talk Line at 256-SAFB (7232), base-wide e-mails, and the Scott Emergency Radio Station AM 1650.

Information will also be released to the following media outlets. Some outlets may opt to post information on their websites versus broadcasting on air.
