Centennial Airshow
A 15th Wing C-17 Globemaster III conducts a fly-by during the Scott Air Force Base 2017 Air Show and Open House June 11, which celebrates the base’s 100th anniversary. The aircraft is normally operated by a crew of three people: pilot, co-pilot and loadmaster. Cargo is loaded onto the C-17 through a large aft door that accommodates military vehicles and palletized cargo. The aircraft can take off and land on runways as short as 3,500 feet long and only 90 feet wide. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. Maria Castle)
