Integrity as a Command Responsibility Published Nov. 22, 2005 By Gen. T. Michael Moseley and Michael Wynne 375th Airlift Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Integrity first is a philosophy and a responsibility emanating from leadership throughout the command structure in all that we do and say. Integrity first implies as well a work process that is data reliant, allowing for facts to enter and drive discussion and argument. It does not remove responsibility for command judgment and does not tolerate time deficiencies. It does however require that commanders provide the tools for needed information, just as Air Commanders rely on information in strategizing air campaign plans. As it is the first of the Air Force Core Values, commanders and related civilian leadership at all levels should unambiguously address this as part of their staff meetings and command presentations. There is no room within the Air Force for lapses in integrity, as this will cost lives in our future.
