Sunny, breezy weather, and big crowds of Team Scott members and their families marked the MATCH UP Family Fun Day Picnic hosted by the 375th Services Squadron Friday.

The picnic, which ran from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., is an annual event and provided free food, fun and entertainment to Team Scott members and their families.

“We were absolutely thrilled with the turn out,” said Lisa Timmermann of 375th SVS who helped organize the event. “The weather could not have been better and the picnic was a huge success.”

At the picnic were representatives and activities from 375th SVS facilities including the Arts & Crafts Center, Outdoor Recreation, the Scott youth programs, the Aero Club and the Cardinal Creek Golf Course. Other highlights included demonstrations from the 375th Airlift Wing Safety Office, inflatable toys for the children, lunch, ice cream and cake, MATCH UP games, music and more.

“We host this picnic to give back to our Team Scott community,” said Maj. Dawn Lancaster, 375th SVS commander. “We put our morale, wellness and recreation money toward this to provide free fun and relaxation to servicemembers and their families. Whether deployed or at home, these troops and their families sacrifice for this country year round. They deserve this.”

An additional reason for the picnic is to encourage Team Scott participation in Air Mobility Command’s summer incentive, MATCH UP, which will earn the winning AMC base $25,000 in MWR money.

“Scott has won the base race in the past,” said Ms. Timmermann. “One thing winning money was used for in past years was to build the Airman Leadership School pavilion. I know we can win it again.”

Scott is competing against the other eleven AMC bases and is currently in fourth place. Travis AFB, Calif. is currently in the lead.

All members of Team Scott and their family members, regardless of age, can register game pieces on line. The base that exceeds their pre-MATCH UP game piece goal by the most is declared the winner.

Along with prizes for the base, individuals who register MATCH UP game pieces can win prizes up to $10,000 or even a $3,000 dream vacation.
Individuals can get MATCH UP pieces at almost all 375th SVS facilities and special events.

“MATCH UP encourages Team Scott to get out and enjoy all the wonderful things 375th SVS offers the community,” said Major Lancaster.
Game pieces were also given out and registered at the MATCH UP Family Fun Day Picnic.

Though the picnic is over, MATCH UP continues until Aug. 31.
“If you haven’t registered your pieces yet, there’s still time,” said Major Lancaster. “Get out and do it. It’s a fun way to help Team Scott win money that will go toward events and projects that will give back to the community.”
