  • Published
John Elliott, 375th Contracting Squadron flight chief, was invited to an awards ceremony hosted by the First Lady, Mrs. Laura Bush, on Feb. 11 as recognition for his work with the Committee for Purchase from People who are Blind or Severely Disabled.

The Committee administers the AbilityOne Program, which coordinates its activities with nonprofit organizations across the country to employ blind or severely disabled individuals and provide goods and services to the Federal Government.

Mr. Elliott has been instrumental in providing contract oversight for the four contracts on Scott AFB that currently employ more than 150 individuals who are blind or handicap. The four contracts have a combined value of $39 million, accounting for 65 percent of all AbilityOne dollars in the Central Region.

Besides being recognized by the First Lady, Mr. Elliott is the Wing Category III Civilian of the Year for 2007.
