Some housing residents to move Published Feb. 27, 2008 By Tech. Sgt. Chris Stagner 375th Airlift Wing Public Affairs Scott Air Force Base, Ill. -- Millions of dollars have been spent in recent years to improve the quality of life for Scott Air Force Base servicemembers as part of the housing privatization initiative. Hundreds of houses have been remodeled and even more have been demolished and rebuilt from scratch. As with any large construction project, however, there are concessions that have to be made by everyone. "Unfortunately, in order to improve the housing and quality of life of Joint Total Force Scott families, we've had to move some people who were already in established housing," said Paula Jackson, 375th Civil Engineer Squadron Housing Asset manager. "Since these are mandated moves, though, they will not be at member expense." In order to ensure all moves are made as seamlessly as possible, the Housing Management Office would like to remind people of a few key details. "The first thing people need to do when they're informed they're moving is contact us," said Ms. Jackson. "Once they've called us, we can provide them with the necessary documentation to procure a government contracted move or self-procured-do-it-yourself move. This documentation includes their AF Form 150. "Once they have that, they can call the Traffic Management Office to schedule a briefing and arrange their moves," Ms. Jackson added. The briefing is an important part of the moving process. "The briefing allows us to educate Joint Total Force Scott members on what to expect to make their move as painless as possible," said Tech. Sgt. Stacey Shury, 375th Logistics Readiness Squadron Personal Property NCO in charge. "These moves are a little bit different than PCS moves since it's just from house to house. Some of the details are removed and it's a fast move. They pack you and move you. "The briefing prepares people for what to expect, even if the move is just from one block to the next," she added. After speaking with TMO, the Joint Personal Property Shipping Office is the last stop in the process. "The JPPSO actually handles the moves," said Sergeant Shury. "Once the move has been booked with them, you'll receive an e-mail with your transportation service provider's contact information and your pack and pick up dates."
