Native American Heritage Month: TSgt. Shaylee Reyes: Creating a beautiful future
Details of the regalia that Tech. Sgt. Shaylee Reyes' grandmother, Madelyn, made for her. A master beadworker and seamstress, Madelyn survived the government’s assimilation policies of the boarding school era and the Indian relocation program. She would later inherit some her family’s lands on the Fort Hall Reservation without fractionated interest, and through her excellent credit and hard work built the family home where Reyes would live until college and military life began.
