7/11/2012 - SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- A group of singing volunteers donated St. Louis Cardinals tickets to Team Scott members June 29 in support of deployed families. The tickets were for the Fourth of July game where the group also sang the national anthem.
The group, known as Four Digit Chord, consists of civilian and military volunteers at Scott Air Force Base. They were founded in 2007.
"Our membership includes several organizations and agencies across the base with active duty officers and enlisted, to civilians," said Jeanine Dunn, a member of the group who works at Air Mobility Command headquarters.
The group performs the national anthem and various patriotic songs in acapella at retirement, promotion and award ceremonies at Scott and select community events.
"We are a 'word of mouth' group and individuals wishing to book an event must contact a member," said Dunn. "Though our members are employed at Scott, we share no affiliation or officially represent the base."
Their on-base performances average five-to-six events per month and five events per year off base.
"We performed the national anthem at the St. Louis Cardinals game last year on July 4, and we were invited back to sing at the Cardinal's National League Championship Series Game 4 and were back-up at the World Series Game 7," said Dunn.
For the Fourth of July game, Four Digit Chord purchased and sold more than 300 tickets to the game and used ticket sales overages to purchase tickets and children's t-shirts for donation to Scott's Airman and Family Readiness Center's Hearts Apart Program.
"We sincerely hope this small token brought joy to the Scott families who were in attendance," said Dunn.
