Base golf course open to public

7/3/2012 - SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- The Cardinal Creek Golf Course has started a program allowing non-military persons on base to use the course.
The guest pass program allows the Cardinal Creek Golf Course to sponsor a person off-base through the 375th Force Support Squadron website.
"Since 2000, we found that our rounds have been decreasing steadily," said Tom Recktor, 375th FSS Community Sport Flight Chief. "We finally got to the point where we have so much room available on the course that we have the opportunity to allow people on."
For a civilian, 18 holes of golf and a golf cart rental costs $28.
"In doing this, we hope to keep the golf course open and support the troops by donating to the military morale, welfare and recreation programs," Recktor said.
The program is set up to continue to give military members and their families the opportunity to use the golf course.
"I'm a 36-year Services veteran," he said. "Ever since I joined the military I have been in Services. There is no greater satisfaction than making someone smile by allowing them to do what they want to do."
